ITLOS: 2017/2018 Capacity-Building and Training Programme

The International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea has launched the 2017-2018 edition of its capacity-building and training programme on dispute settlement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. This initiative was established in 2007 with the financial support of the Nippon Foundation and each edition consists on a full-time nine-month programme. Targeted participants are young government officials or researchers currently working on issues of the law of the sea or dispute settlement who are looking to develop their legal skills and deepen their practical knowledge of the settlement of disputes mechanisms. The application deadline for this edition is 20 April 2017. More information is available here and in this flyer.

ITLOS: 9th Nippon Foundation Programme on Dispute Settlement

The International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea has just announced the 2015-2016 capacity-building and training programme on dispute settlement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The programme was established in 2007 with the financial support of the Nippon Foundation. The 9th programme will be conducted within a period of 9 months from 15 July 2015 to 31 March 2016. Training will take place principally at the ITLOS premises in Hamburg, Germany.Targeted participants are young government officials or researchers currently working on issues of the law of the sea or dispute settlement who are looking to develop their legal skills and deepen their practical knowledge of the settlement of disputes mechanisms. The application deadline is 4 May 2015 and you can find all the information here.

Internship: CPMR Atlantic Arc Commission

The CPMR (Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions) Atlantic Arc Commission is looking for trainee in its Brussels office starting end of January or beginning of February 2015 for a 6 months period. The deadline to submit applications is 1st December 2014. Ideally, the trainee would be from one of the 5 Atlantic Member States: Portugal, Spain, France, United Kingdom or Ireland.
